Chickenpox is a contagious viral disease common in childhood, especially children under the age of 10. Chickenpox is caused by the herpes varicella zoster virus causing a rash and/or cysts on the face and body. chickenpox disease is primarily a childrens health issue as the disease affects millions of children each year. The disease is highly contagious, most people in the world have caught or been exposed to chickenpox before the age of ten. Chickenpox symptoms can begin to appear one to three weeks after exposure to the virus. Symptoms include a rash on the face and body accompanied by a slight fever. The rash is comprised of small red spots that can grow into blisters. Bed rest is usually all that is required for chickenpox treatment and children will usually recover within ten days after onset of the disease.
